Kentucky Fried Chicken Recipe
This, of course, is not the real “secret” Kentucky fried chicken recipe, but it really does taste like it.
KFC chicken isn’t something any of us is going to eat every day, but when you want that down home fried chicken experience, it sure does hit the spot!
Kentucky Fried Chicken Recipe
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 to 3 eggs, beaten
- 3 to 4 tablespoons oil for frying
For the coating:
2 cups flour
Mix together all the coating ingredients and place in a clean plastic bag. Dip each piece into beaten egg, then into the flour mixture in the bag. Coat the chicken completely with the flour mixture.
Place the oil in a skillet and heat. Brown the chicken in oil slowly (225ºF if you are using an electric skillet), uncovered. Cover the skillet and continue to fry at a very low heat until the chicken is fully cooked, approximately 30 minutes. Check for doneness before removing the chicken from the skillet. It may need longer to cook on slow heat.
Drain well on paper towels.
Tips and Variations:
- This recipe can be prepared using a deep fryer and is actually perfect for the fryer. Follow the directions on your fryer.
- Make sure your oil is hot before adding the chicken. The chicken shouldn’t be greasy when it is cooked in hot oil, but if the oil is cool, it will absorb the grease.
Our recipe for Kentucky fried chicken is very easy to make, either in a regular skillet or deep fryer.
It is actually perfect for a deep fryer. Either way, just make sure to cook the chicken right through.

From being an expert on frying chicken I prefer to fry my chicken in a black cast iron skillet with vegetable oil rather than a few tablespoons of oil. I fry my chicken for 10 minutes on each side and it comes out perfect. I use about 3 inches of oil in the pan.
Tried it now. The guidelines are the right ones. use your common sense and observations to make it perfect.
1 hour is too long. the juices would be gone. 15 minutes are enough.
Mid heat all along while covering the skillet, gave better results.
Use pepper and paprika generously.
After covering with flour mixture let the chicken rest for at least 15 minutes before frying. I made 3 bunches; the last one was perfect.
Taste the flour mixture for the right amount of salt. etc etc

This recipe is one of the best coating mixes i have ever tried on Chicken wings. Ten minutes in the deep fat fryer and these things are amazing.
The only thing I tried (after cooking) was to mix the wings in a mixture of Dianah Chicken & Rib Sauce, and Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce (about 3 to 1). I let these sit in a warm oven before serving and I was lucky to get out with my hand when I put them out.

Genitive Singular of Adjectives
The behaviour of adjectives when they follow nouns in the genitive is as haphazard as that of the nouns themselves, but luckily the Christian Bros. managed to isolate the nine different kinds of adjective and describe their genitive forms depending on whether they’re following a masculine or feminine noun. Note that feminine adjectives are never aspirated in the genitive singular or in the plural, but masculine ones are:
The usual disclaimer applies: there’s little point in memorizing these forms or worrying about them; as long as you can generally recognize them when they appear in an Irish text you’ll get used to them over time.
Genitive Plural of Adjectives
How an adjective is declined in the plural depends on the noun it’s qualifying. In Lesson 13 we learned the difference between a strong-plural noun and a weak-plural noun. Weak nouns have the same genitive plural and nominative singular, but strong nouns have the same genitive plural and nominative plural. If an adjective follows a strong-plural noun, it has the same form for all cases of the plural, e.g.
